Evan Hartman, M.A., LPC

We all need encouragement and sometimes borrowing the bravery or confidence someone else has in you is vital to taking the steps towards finding your own. The difficulties that we go through do not define who we are, they are simply a part of our story. Each person is unique in their needs and I customize therapy to fit the individual. My office is not only a safe haven for you to work through your hardest times, but is a place where you can be heard without judgement. As we walk through this journey together, my main goal is to help you become the best version of yourself.

Background/Experience/Training
I have spent the last six years working in both inpatient and outpatient treatment centers specializing in eating disorders for both children and adults. In the treatment of eating disorders I assist the client in uncovering the purpose their eating disorder serves and in doing so, empowering the client to replace the behavior with healthy coping skills.  In order to personalize every client’s experience, I utilize tools from various counseling approaches which include, Cognitive-Behavioral,  Adlerian, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, and Play Therapy. Additional counseling issues in which I have experience include:

  • Parenting issues

  • Depression

  • Anger

  • Social and generalized anxiety

  • Self-harm

  • Low-self-esteem

  • Grief/loss

  • Trauma

  • Obsessive-compulsive disorders

  • Behavior issues

  • Divorce

  • Blended families.

I am Christian and believe that because of this I will always strive to love, encourage, and protect. I believe people make mistakes, have dark times, and feel hopeless but “You are not what you’re going through”-Holley Gerth. I am passionate about “living life” with my community.
